Xavier Lázaro is adopting a competent stance in the first competition of the year on the WSK Promotion calendar. At the South Garda Karting in Lonato, competing in the WSK Champions Cup in the Mini Sub 10 category, Xavier Lázaro concluded today's final Heats of the program, consistently securing positions in the top places.
Yesterday, the Portuguese driver encountered some issues during the Qualifying session, but still managed to secure the 10th fastest time, placing 5th in his series. This allowed him to consistently start from the 4th position in the Heats. Also on the same day, the Portuguese driver participated in two races, achieving the 5th and 2nd positions, and also claiming the fastest lap in both races.
Poor Starts But Good Endings
Just as had happened in the heats contested yesterday, Xavier Lázaro once again did not showcase his best performance on the track at the beginning of the two races held today. Starting from the fourth position, on the outside line in preparation for Turn One, the youngster from Várzea de Sintra did not have a good start in both races, losing positions. This forced him to make up for the setback to finish as well as possible. Somewhat unfocused, Xavier Lázaro has not been taking advantage of the initial phase of the races to showcase the best pace he currently possesses compared to most of his competitors in the category.

In the first heat of the day, the driver engaged in an early-phase duel with an opponent, resulting in damage to the front of his DR kart. Despite a challenging start to the race, Xavier Lázaro managed to finish in fourth position, but a three-second penalty ultimately dropped him to 6th place. It is worth mentioning that Xavier Lázaro once again set the fastest lap of the race, currently holding the best time of the event (52.687s).
In the final heat of the day, once again, the Portuguese driver didn't have a good start, but later managed to find the right rhythm and finish in 5th position.
Xavier Lázaro finished the heats in 7th place in the Mini Sub 10 category, and tomorrow he will compete in Pre-Final A, starting from the fourth position. Once again on the outside of the track, the Portuguese driver will undoubtedly be fully focused to secure a place in the Final as far forward as possible. The Final for the Mini Sub 10 category takes place at 12:05 Portuguese time.
