Xavier Lázaro officially returns to competition this weekend, being present at the 2020 Portuguese Karting Cup, an event taking place at the Algarve International Karting Circuit (KIA) in Portimão. This event, known as the big karting party, will gather a total of 62 drivers over the next few days, divided into six categories.

The National Initiation Champion in 2020, Xavier Lázaro, will compete this weekend for victory in his category, but will also take his first steps in the X30 Mini category on the Algarve track. Therefore, the young driver from Várzea de Sintra will have doubled effort at the Algarve International Karting Circuit, having to compete in both categories.

As part of the driver structure of the Cabo Junior Team (CJT), Xavier Lázaro will now have a new mechanic starting this weekend, former driver Jacinto Gameiro. This will be a novelty for Lázaro, as throughout his competitive experience until now, his mother was his technical manager.

"I'm eager for everything to begin"Xavier Lázaro said at the end of today's unofficial free practice sessions. Regarding the added difficulty of racing in two categories, Lázaro said, "It's going to be a lot of work, but I'm sure I'll have a lot of support around me".

Tomorrow, timed practice sessions will take place in the morning, with the first qualifying heats scheduled for the afternoon. The program concludes on Sunday with the final qualifying heats, Pre-Finals, and Finals.
