A New Class
Taking advantage of the fact that the 2020 Portuguese Karting Cup was already taking place in 2021, this weekend I was able to make my debut in a new class, X30 Mini. Behind the wheel of the Kart Republic from Cabo Júnior Team (CJT), I started well and was 4th in timed practice, but I couldn't avoid some crashes in the two qualifying heats, being penalized. My best performance was in the Final, I moved up four positions and finished sixth.
Closing a Cycle
With much delay due to the pandemic, the 2020 Portuguese Cup took place at the Kartódromo Internacional of Algarve (KIA). Although in timed training I was beaten by one of my opponents, I was able to outperform the competition in the two qualifying heats, in the Pre-Final and Final, to complete my participation in the Initiation class by winning this race and achieving the 'double'. .
Achieving the Goal
After some time of impasse and waiting, the last round took place in Viana, hosted by Clube Automóvel Minho (CAM). Since I mathematically won the title in the previous round (Braga), this event was important as I would only need to start the race. With the bad weather and an uncooperative engine as my main opponents, I still had fun and secured 2nd position in the Initiation class. I am now the National Champion of the Initiation class in 2020.
The Perfect Weekend
The Braga stage of the CPK KIA marked a defining moment in my season. I was always ranked first, in the Qualifying sessions, in the two heats, as well as in the Pre-Final and Final. I feel increasingly confident on the track and I head to the last round of the championship focused on being the strongest again. I took a huge step in the fight for the Initiation title.
