Continuing his evolution in his debut among the X30 Mini drivers, Xavier Lázaro made the most of his presence at the 2020 Portuguese Karting Cup, held this weekend at the International Algarve Karting Circuit. After showing promising signs of competitiveness yesterday, particularly by achieving the 4th best time in the timed practices, today Xavier Lázaro demonstrated improvement in the two races contested.
In the Pre-Final, he finished in 10th place, losing one position relative to his starting position for the race. In the afternoon, in the Final, he had the best performance of the entire weekend. Starting from the 5th row of the grid, in 10th place, Xavier Lázaro was combative and worked tirelessly to gain positions, ultimately finishing the race in a brilliant 6th place. The driver demonstrated intelligence, not repeating the errors of inexperience that penalized him on Saturday when he was penalized in both qualifying heats. Today, he managed to be competitive without damaging the nose of his Kart Republic, showing that at 7 years of age, he has the ability to strategize during the race.
"This is a new category where I have a lot to learn, very different from the Initiation class", at the end, said the 'little' Lázaro. "Anyway, I'm happy with my performance in my first race".
Here are all the results from today.
