During the 2024 awards ceremony of FPAK (Portuguese Federation of Automobilism and Karting), a video was shown highlighting the most significant achievements of Portuguese drivers over the past thirty years. The video, in addition to paying a well-deserved tribute to the great names of Portuguese motorsport, served as a showcase of the past, present, and future of Portuguese racing. Names such as Rui Madeira, Pedro Lamy, Carlos Sousa, Tiago Monteiro, Armindo Araújo, António Félix da Costa, and Filipe Albuquerque, among others, have taken the success and talent of our best drivers to all corners of the world. One name also stood out in the video: Xavier Lázaro, who, at just 11 years old, became the first Portuguese driver to win a gold medal at the FIA Motorsport Games. This achievement took place in Valencia, where Xavier Lázaro also made history by becoming the first-ever winner in the Karting Sprint Mini category.
