Continuing an intense work program in 2021, Xavier L\u00e1zaro was in Italy last week for a three-day testing session at Adria Raceway, one of the most important tracks in the current panorama of international karting. At seven years old, this youngster from V\u00e1rzea de Sintra continues to make rapid progress in adapting and evolving behind the wheel of X30 Mini and 60 Mini category karts. It's worth noting that the driver made his debut in X30 Mini this year, after becoming National Champion in the Initiation category in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar to what had happened during the previous visit to Italian soil, the tests were conducted by DR Racing Kart, the brand of five-time world karting champion Danilo Rossi. During these tests at Adria, Danilo Rossi was present and often deeply involved in track work with Xavier L\u00e1zaro. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Weather Allowed For Various Track Conditions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With the end of last week bringing unstable weather to the skies of northern Italy, Xavier L\u00e1zaro was able to test the track in various scenarios. Friday brought rain, which although did not allow for the best conditions for the young Portuguese driver to explore the limits of the track, provided the opportunity to drive on the kart track with wet asphalt. Nevertheless, Xavier L\u00e1zaro adapted well and made the most of the opportunity to also develop his driving skills under adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday was the most productive of the three days. With the weather becoming more 'friendly,' the sun made an appearance, bringing along several Mini kart drivers, which allowed for a comparison base in terms of lap times. Although sharing these data is irrelevant, it's worth mentioning that Xavier L\u00e1zaro proved to be quite competitive and consistent, even if the number of laps and time on track was extensive, eventually limiting the performance of the young Portuguese driver the following day due to some accumulated fatigue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His performance continued to be remarkable, considering his young age and considerable inexperience in the category. Quickly adapting to the track, Xavier L\u00e1zaro absorbed the teachings, putting them into practice objectively, making the most of the DR chassis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Constantly Accompanied and Analyzed<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Although Xavier L\u00e1zaro's presence in Italy was not based on preparing for a particular competitive event, it was intensely worked on during the three days of testing. The support for the Portuguese driver was constant, with five-time world karting champion Danilo Rossi being highly involved on the track. The objective was to refine the driver's technique in line with his progress on the track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Presence In the Final Cup Is a Strong Possibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After completing the tests on one of the tracks currently with the highest usage throughout the year in the international karting scene, the conclusions are positive, with many lessons learned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"These three days of testing were frankly positive, at all levels\"<\/strong>, said Vasco L\u00e1zaro. \"Xavier spent a lot of time on the track, both on Friday and Saturday. Sunday was not as productive because he was already showing some fatigue. It was good that it rained on the first day because he got to know the track in those conditions. He still has more difficulty in the rain, so it's good that he can take advantage of every opportunity to drive on a wet track.\"<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work with the team was very intense, and Danilo's presence was very valuable, as he has vast experience and was quite involved during the three days. Xavier learned a lot, and he will certainly make the most of everything he was taught here. I am very pleased with his performance; he was quick to adapt<\/strong> and once again, he left excellent indicators. He is becoming increasingly comfortable in X30 Mini in Portugal, and internationally, he is taking the first steps in 60 Mini.\" <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vasco L\u00e1zaro also mentioned that Adria may again be on the route of the young Portuguese driver, to compete later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"At the moment, we are considering the possibility of 'Xavi' participating later this year in the WSK Final Cup, here in Adria\"<\/strong>, Vasco L\u00e1zaro stated. \"Xavier will continue his learning program in the category this year, both in Portugal and beyond. I think it won't hurt him at all, by the end of the national season, to come and evolve on track during a weekend rich in teachings, as it will certainly be this year at the Final Cup, with great names from the category worldwide. At the moment, Xavier's presence in the competition is a mere possibility under consideration, but if confirmed, it will only serve as another step in his learning process.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
