The 2026 karting season did not start in the best way for Xavier L\u00e1zaro, who in the opening round of the WSK Super Master Series was unable to secure a place in the OKJ Final. At the La Conca International Circuit in Muro Leccese, Italy, the official DR driver struggled throughout the weekend with setup problems on his kart, which never allowed him to be competitive and fight for the top positions, starting from Qualifying, where he could do no better than 37th fastest out of 77 participants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the heats he was unable to make progress, starting 18th and crossing the finish line in 21st in the first one, retiring from the next after being hit by a rival, achieving his best result in the third (16th) and finishing 23rd in the last. Already out of contention for the Final, the Portuguese driver raced in the Pre-Final B this morning, a race in which he started 30th and finished 28th on track, but with damage to the nose cone of his DR he was given a five-second penalty and dropped to 31st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xavier L\u00e1zaro returns to the WSK Super Master Series from February 11 to 14 for the second round, at the Leopard Circuit in Viterbo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xavier L\u00e1zaro did not have the start to the 2026 season he had hoped for. In the opening round of the WSK Super Master Series, an event organized by WSK Promotion and held at the La Conca International Circuit in Muro Leccese, the Portuguese driver aimed to show that he was becoming increasingly comfortable behind the wheel of an OKJ kart. However, the weekend ended up being counterproductive, revealing many difficulties in achieving the best performance behind the wheel of the DR kart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout all the days on the Italian track, Xavier L\u00e1zaro struggled greatly with his kart, showing many difficulties in achieving his best performance. His 37th place in Qualifying, while not catastrophic, already pointed to potential difficulties in his goal of securing a place in Sunday\u2019s Final. Those difficulties worsened right away in Heat 1, where starting from 18th position, Xavier L\u00e1zaro was never able to find the right pace, despite gaining three positions in the race to finish 18th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Heat 2, the goal of reaching the Final definitely fell apart, as on the second lap the driver from V\u00e1rzea de Sintra ended up off the track after being hit by Brazilian driver Nicolas Guth from the official CRG team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best result of the weekend came in Heat 3, where starting from 17th, Danilo Rossi\u2019s young prot\u00e9g\u00e9 finished 16th. In the final Heat, L\u00e1zaro started 15th and could do no better than cross the finish line in 23rd place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This morning, Xavier L\u00e1zaro raced in Pre-Final B, starting from 30th. Aware that he would not be in the Final, the young Portuguese driver\u2019s only goal was to finish the weekend with a good race. However, although the race was highly competitive, it was also troubled and full of contact. Very inconsistent and making a few mistakes, Xavier L\u00e1zaro crossed the finish line in 28th, but damage to the nose of his DR kart resulted in a five-second penalty, dropping him to 31st in the final classification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xavier L\u00e1zaro returns to competition in 15 days for the second round of the WSK Super Master Series at the Leopard Circuit in Viterbo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
