É já neste próximo fim de semana que Xavier Lázaro vai representar Portugal no Karting durante os FIA Motorsport Games, uma competição que reúne ao mais alto nível todas as áreas do desporto motorizado. Bem se poderia dizer que este evento é uma ‘Olimpíada’ do automobilismo.
The young driver, just 11 years old, joins Miguel Silva and Martim Menezes in an attempt to take Portugal's name to the highest level of Karting in this event. In Valencia, Xavier Lázaro will also be part of the history of the Mini category at the FIA Motorsport Games, being one of the 40 drivers who will represent this category for the first time.
Like all participants in the Mini category, Xavier Lázaro will use a Parolin kart with a TM engine. The young driver from Várzea de Sintra will have Frederico Duarte by his side as his mechanic, a former Karting Champion in Portugal who currently works professionally at the Italian manufacturer's factory. “Desde que soube que representaria Portugal neste evento, assumi a vontade de ter o ‘Fred’ como meu mecânico, já que é uma pessoa que admiro muito”, Xavier Lázaro said. “O seu conhecimento técnico com mecânico da marca Parolin, associado à enorme experiência como piloto, fazem dele um elemento imprescindível para mim neste evento. Decerto irei aprender muito com ele e espero retribuir na pista”.

The Portuguese driver will certainly be one of the strong contenders in the competition. With total dedication to international karting for several years, Xavier Lázaro has followed an extensive international calendar in Italy, already making history for Portuguese karting. As a result, his name certainly cannot be overlooked among the favorites for victory at the Valencia event. Humble but determined, Xavier Lázaro is very clear about his goals for this weekend.
“Desde já, quero agradecer à FPAK pela enorme oportunidade que me dá de a representar e ao meu país nesta edição dos FIA Motorsport Games, em que serei um dos 40 pilotos que introduzem a Mini no evento”, Xavier Lázaro said. “Sei que irei encontrar em Valencia concorrência de peso, já que todos partilham as mesmas ambições: dignificar o país que representam e lutar pela vitória. Vou para Valencia cheio de motivação e orgulho, por representar a FPAK e Portugal. Sei que irei competir contra concorrência forte, mas venha quem vier vou dar tudo de mim para vencer”.
