This weekend, Xavier Lázaro will compete in the fifth and final round of the season in the Karting Portugal Championship KIA. The event will take place at the Kartódromo Internacional de Braga (KIB), organized by ACDME.
It will be another track where the young driver from Várzea de Sintra will be competing for the first time behind the wheel of an X30 Mini kart, a category in which he started this year after becoming the national champion in the Initiation class in 2020.
“Braga é uma excelente pista e perfeita para receber a última jornada do campeonato para este ano”, said the father of the driver, Vasco Lázaro. “Trata-se de um traçado que já viu grandes eventos de karting a nível mundial, onde já competiram grandes nomes que hoje em dia são as estrelas do automobilismo ao mais alto nível. Nada melhor para encerrar a temporada numa categoria de estreia que visitar um palco tão inspirador.”
In this debut season, Xavier Lázaro has been fully committed to learning and improving his driving in the X30 Mini of the Cabo Junior Team (CJT), a kart significantly more demanding than the one in the Initiation class. Step by step, the young driver, who recently turned eight, has seized every opportunity to feel increasingly comfortable behind the wheel of the Kart Republic on the track. His skills have been gradually consolidating, more or less rapidly, depending on the challenges he faces. Although more comfortable on tracks where he has had more opportunities and time to train with the X30 Mini, Xavier Lázaro has been evolving consistently, showing promising signs for the future.
“O Xavier tem vindo a efetuar um trabalho fantástico, se analisarmos que é de longe o mais jovem do pelotão”Vasco Lázaro mentioned. “Durante toda a temporada, tem sabido ouvir e colocar em prática tudo aquilo que lhe vai sendo dito. É muito inteligente e para a sua idade não deixa de ser notável a sua capacidade de leitura do terreno e dos vários momentos de uma corrida, ao mesmo tempo que vai tirando partido da sua técnica. Este tem sido um ano de aprendizagem, mas o Xavier está a desfrutar e a absorver toda a informação que lhe vai sendo transmitida. Tem estado mais confortável nas pistas em que tivemos mais possibilidades de testar, mas mesmo em Braga já evidenciou estar à vontade ao volante do X30 Mini. O Xavier já alcançou os objetivos para 2021 e em Braga acima de tudo espero que se divirta em pista, o que tenho a certeza vai fazer.”
The race program for Xavier Lázaro in Braga will begin tomorrow with the official free practice and timed sessions, followed by the 1st Qualifying Heat and Race 1.
