Xavier Lázaro has already presented his sports calendar for 2024. At the age of 10, the young talent from Várzea de Sintra is gearing up for another intense season at the highest level in karting, once again focusing on the extensive and highly competitive competition calendar in Italy. Renewing his status as an official driver for the DR team, led by five-time world karting champion Danilo Rossi, Xavier Lázaro begins a new season in the Mini Sub-10 class. "In 2024, Xavier will complete the entire WSK Promotion calendar, which this year has fewer events than in 2023, although it maintains the same number of competitions, all on Italian soil", said his father, Vasco Lázaro. "Still in Italy, Xavier Lázaro will compete in the ACI Italian Karting Championship, participating in all five stages of the calendar", he concluded.
In 2023, the young Portuguese driver took on the entire WSK Promotion calendar for the first time, making history for Portuguese karting by becoming the first Portuguese driver to reach the podium in the Mini category in one of the competitions organized by the Italian promoter. In the final stage of the year, the last of the WSK Final Cup, the Portuguese driver repeated the podium and even set the fastest lap of the event in the Mini category. These achievements now serve as a benchmark and motivation for a new challenge, scheduled to begin on January 21st in Lonato. "My performances at the end of 2023 reflected my progress and confirmed that I am competitive and ready for the new season", Xavier Lázaro said. "The year 2023 was very intense and demanded my utmost commitment and sacrifices, as well as the dedication of DR, which stood by me in the best moments and those that didn't go so well. Without a doubt, I am comfortable and more than ready for a new season", he concluded.
In Six Competitions and Perhaps Some Events
Xavier Lázaro's 2024 season kicks off on January 21st in Lonato, the venue for the WSK Champions Cup. The following week, the DR young driver competes in the first of four stages of the WSK Super Master Series. The races take place in Lonato, Cremona (February 11th), Franciacorta (February 18th), and Sarno (March 2nd). Also in March, Xavier Lázaro participates in the first stage (of two) of the WSK Open Series. The opening event in this competition is held in Franciacorta on March 24th.
In the month of April, the young driver from the outskirts of Sintra will, for the first time, compete on a Sicilian track, for the 1st stage of the ACI Italian Karting Championship scheduled at the Circuito Internazionale di Triscina on April 21st.
May will be a very intense month for Xavier Lázaro, with three races. The final stage of the WSK Open Series in La Conca (May 11th) will be followed by Round 2 of the ACI Italian Championship, also in La Conca (May 19th). The following week, the journey is long, to Sarno, for the 1st stage of the WSK Euro Series (May 26th).
Following a short break during the first three weeks of June, Xavier Lázaro races in the 3rd round of the ACI Italian Championship in Val Vibrata (June 23rd), followed immediately by the 2nd stage of the WSK Euro Series in Franciacorta (June 30th).
Then comes four relatively calm months, during which the Portuguese driver will only have competitive commitments on July 21st, with the 4th round of the ACI Italian Championship (Sarno), as well as two races in September: the debut at the Circuito Internazionale Viterbo for the WSK Super Cup by Mini (September 8th), followed by the 5th and final round of the ACI Italian Championship in Lonato on September 22nd.
Xavier Lázaro returns to competition in the month of November to participate in the two stages of the WSK Final Cup, in Lonato (November 10th) and Cremona (November 24th).
It is also possible that during the 2024 season, the young Portuguese driver may occasionally participate in some competitions or events, not only at the international level but also in Portugal.
